Popular among both local and foreign tourists, it is home to about 88 Asian elephants of different ages who have been found either lost or wounded in the wilderness and where shelter and care are provided.

The highlights of the visit to the Orphanage are the bathing of the herd at the scenic river Ma Oya, feeding of milk to calves and fruits to adult elephants with also the ability to observe them moving freely within large areas.
